I'm a single parent 29 yrs. old with a 6 yr. old daughter. I live at home with my mother who is very sickly, and cannot work. I cannot find a job for the life of me, and I have a wonderful employment history. My problem is that I went to college for 4 yrs. on one major, because of the problems I have with doing everything for my mom and child. I cannot go back to college because they no longer have my major and I'm in debt with student loans 25,000. Not being able to find work, my daughter is in the city school district and has alot of problems in her class. My mother had surgery in 1998 for a liver transplant, and Strong Memorial Hospital lfet a surgical sponge in her stomach, 11 yrs. ago and just told her august of 2007. We tried to get a lawyer but no one wanted to touch the case. The doctor who operated on her will not remove it, it will cause more problems but he also wants to give us a hard time with prescripitions, and will do anything about it. We need help, financial wise to get my loans under control, and to at least find a better hospital to investigate the sponge in her stomach. She has lost 87 pds. in 3 months, cannot eat, or hold anything down, and the sponge is blocking her colon so there's problems with bowl movement. She is on SSI, and I'm getting help with food stamps, and medicaid , but it's not enough. If mom dies because of this sponge, what am I to do without financial stability. My daughter will have to go to a shelter and so will I. All I ask is that I can at least get afree grant to help mve to a different location like Tampa Florida where I've done research about the hospital who is willing to remove her sponge out of her stomach and she will survive, and enough to pay not all the student loans, but enough that I will not be followed by the IRS, the rest of my life. I will be able to provide for my child the proper way. And if mom doesn't make it, at least I'll be able to bury her the proper way. We do not insurance policies, we can't afford that either.
